AVEA Outreach on Earth Day 2025

AVEA members honored Earth Day with outreach during a mini–Eco-Fair at Risen Savior Church in Burnsville. The church sponsored a climate speaker, Dr. Joe Fargione - the Director of Science for the Nature Conservancy’s North America Region, an author of the Fifth National Climate Assessment, and has testified before Congress on Natural Climate Solutions.  His work focuses on quantifying nature’s benefits to people, including the potential for nature to contribute to fighting climate change. What a treat to have such an amazing speaker at the Climate Change 101 event! 

As part of the event, AVEA members displayed information about our organization, educated visitors on local environmental issues such as data centers and PFAS in drinking water, and welcomed new members. Many people who stopped at our table were especially interested in the topic of data centers in our County. Our display information helped people understand the current situation in Apple Valley and how to get involved at the local level.  Thank you for your advocacy, AVEA members!
